The Marion County Development Commission (MCDC) is a department of county government created by the Marion County Board of Supervisors in 1989 to grow the economic base of Marion County, Iowa.  The commission consists of 11 citizens appointed by the Supervisors from various geographic areas of the county. 

The MCDC is primarily involved with tourism promotion and business development.  The MCDC office is located on the first floor of the Marion County Courthouse in Knoxville.  Over the years, MCDC has received numerous awards from the Travel Federation of Iowa, Iowa Tourism Office and Professional Developers of Iowa for excellence.
