Marion County, Iowa Accomplishing Great Things Together

Welcome

The Marion County Development Commission (MCDC) was created as a department of county government on January 23, 1989 by the Marion County Board of Supervisors.  The commission was created to promote Marion County in areas of business development, tourism and recreation.

Over the years, the MCDC has received numerous honors from organizations such as the Iowa Tourism Office, Travel Federation of Iowa and Professional Developers of Iowa.  This includes 5 times being named the Iowa Tourism County of the Year.

The MCDC is comprised of 11 commissioners who are appointed by the Marion County Board of Supervisors to serve 3-year terms.  The MCDC meetings are held on either the 2nd or 3rd Friday of each month (except August) at 7:15 a.m.  The MCDC office is located on the northwest corner of the 1st floor in the Marion County Courthouse.
