A Tradition of Innovation

Welcome to Bussey.

About Bussey

In 1864, Jesse Bussey purchased the land where the town of Bussey is located. In 1867, he and his wife moved to Iowa. It wasn’t until 1875 that he decided to donate 50 acres of his land for a town. Between 1899 and 1914, the community suffered three devastating fires.

Small, but proud, Bussey is popular for its splashy Fourth of July parade and fireworks, as well as its beautiful library, downtown mural and park. This friendly community is located in Liberty Township, with two railroads running through town. The Twin Cedars Community School District is the pride of residents in the area. Bussey provides easy access to manufacturing employment in Eddyville, Oskaloosa, Pella and Knoxville.
