A Tradition of Innovation


The Iowa Innovation Gateway Region and the Opportunity2 Region were created to enhance collaboration between adjacent Iowa counties as they work to attract and retain businesses in their area.

Iowa Innovation Gateway Region

Mission: To form a dynamic, vibrant network that works collaboratively to create a globally competitive region in Central Iowa, and beyond.

Purpose: Analyze workforce supply and demand, build data-driven partnerships to match workforce supply and demand, provide infrastructure to foster sustainable communities and create a culture of entrepreneurship.

Programs: The Iowa Innovation Gateway is coordinating an exporting conference and has completed a regional skillshed workforce report. The region is working with ABI (Iowa Association of Business and Industry) on the NAM (National Association of Manufacturers) to pilot the skills ready workplace program in Iowa. IIG has also facilitated RIG regions around the state.

Counties: Jasper, Mahaska, Marion, Marshall, Poweshiek, Story and Tama

Opportunity2 Region

Mission: The mission of Opportunity2 is to work together to further the growth and development of the business economy in the region.

Purpose: The purpose of Opportunity2 is to: Retain & Expand Existing Employers, Encourage Entrepreneurship, Attract New Employers and Enhance Skilled Regional Workforce

Programs: In conjunction with the Southeast Iowa Manufacturers’ Consortium, Opportunity2 has produced to videos. The first video highlights career opportunities in the advanced manufacturing sector. The second video titled “Coming Home” highlights the quality of place within the region. In addition, the region belongs to the Community Venture Network and has sponsored area EntreBash events to encourage entrepreneurism. Other projects include sector workforce data, web site, B2B marketing on web site and virtual spec building program. Opportunity2 has completed several initiatives within targeted industry sectors and workforce.
