Red Rock Area Top 10 Under 40 Announced

The Marion County Development Commission (MCDC) announced today the names of the Top 10 under 40 for 2017.  This is the first year for this award in the Red Rock Area.  The purpose of the program is to showcase the contributions young adults under the age of 40 are making within our area companies, highlight the impact young adults have on our communities, encourage all young professionals to become involved as volunteers and promote the benefits for young adults to live and work in Marion County.

“The MCDC works to position the area as a premier destination to live, work and visit,” explains Carla Eysink, MCDC Executive Director.  “Our combination of excellent job opportunities, kid friendly communities and tourism amenities that benefit residents allows us to provide a distinctive lifestyle in rural Iowa.  Many of our companies are expanding so there continue to be great opportunities for young professionals in the Red Rock Area. We are excited to showcase the stories of these 10 outstanding young professionals over the next couple of months.”

The MCDC received nominations for the awards and the MCDC commissioners reviewed recommendations to select the final top 10.  Over the next four months, you will get to know the stories of each young professionals selected as the MCDC will present each recipient an award individually at their place of business or volunteerism organization as a way to honor them with their colleagues.  Their stories will be shared with area media as the awards are presented.

Todd Chambers
EMPLOYER:  Insurance Agent/Financial Advisor, McKay Insurance Agency
VOLUNTEER:  Todd’s volunteer involvement currently includes the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics Board of Trustees, Rotary, NAIFA and MDRT.  Over the years, Mr. Chambers has been involved with serving on the board of directors for the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce, Pine Knolls Country Club and Knoxville Hospital Foundation.

Andrea Dana
EMPLOYER:  Senior HR Manager:  Corporate Sales Subsidiaries & Organizational Dev., Pella Corporation
VOLUNTEER:  Currently, Andrea is involved with the Society for Human Resources (SHRM) State Conference Leadership Team, Central College National Advisory Council and for the past 19 years working with the Pella High School Forte dance team.  Previously, she has served in leadership positions for the Pella Professional and Business Women’s Forum, Central College EAM Advisory Board and Central College Town and Gown volunteer.  Andrea is also a graduate of Leadership Red Rock.

Alison Muller-Heit
EMPLOYER:  Strategic Marketing Leader, Leighton State Bank
VOLUNTEER:  She is currently serving as Chair of the board for the Pella Opera House, Pella Historical Society & Museums board member and Vice Chair of the PACE Events Committee.  Alison has previously been involved with the Pella Garden Club, Teens Encounter Christ, Tulip Time spieling coordination, Pella Corporation Women in Manufacturing Leader and Pella Corporation Women’s Connections Leadership Committee.

Dave Machovsky
EMPLOYER:  Industrial Adhesives Tape Division Team Leader, 3M
VOLUNTEER:  Most recently, Dave graduated from Leadership Red Rock in 2016 and is currently working within the area to help pilot a Young Professionals group in Knoxville.  When he lived in South Dakota, he was a first responder, volunteer firefighter and certified as a National Wildlife Firefighter with Coyote1 National Firefighting task force.  Locally, he has volunteered at the Marion County Fair.

Dylan Morse
EMPLOYER:  AVP, Compliance; Consumer & Commercial Lending, Iowa State Savings Bank
VOLUNTEER:  The Knoxville City Council, Knoxville Comprehensive Planning Committee, Grand Theater Foundation, Knoxville Heritage Community Foundation and Knoxville Public Library Expansion Committee are organizations that Dylan is currently serving with.  In the past, he has been involved with the Knoxville Movie Nights, Knoxville RAGBRAI Central Committee, Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation, Streetscape Committee, graduated from Leadership Red Rock, ACTS of Iowa Knoxville Service Surges and WHO TV-13 RVTV Planning Committee.

Katrina Nelson
EMPLOYER:  Public Relations & Foundation Coordinator, Knoxville Hospital & Clinics
VOLUNTEER:  Katrina serves as a board member for THRIVE Knoxville in addition to being a member of the Iowa Hospital Association-  Iowa Society of Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations Professionals, and Iowa Hospital Association-Foundation Professionals for Iowa Hospitals.  Katrina is a graduate of Leadership Red Rock and formerly served as a board member for the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce.

Tim Te Grootenhuis
EMPLOYER:  Owner, Culver’s of Pella
VOLUNTEER:  Tim spends his time volunteering for the Pella Chamber of Commerce, Pella Area Development Corporation, PACE Events Council, Kid’s Hope, Faith CRC Council, Lake Red Rock Balloon Festival, Pella Athletic Booster Club and Meals from the Heartland.

Teresa Ulferts
EMPLOYER:  Vice President and Marketing Officer, Marion County Bank
VOLUNTEER:  The Pella Community Foundation, Pella Chamber of Commerce and Pella Professional and Business Women’s Forum are some of the organizations Teresa has volunteered with over the years.  In addition, she is active in her church serving as Treasurer of Calvary’s CRC Church Expansion, Ministry Evaluation Team, Christmas Program Committee, Youth Group Leader and Nursery Committee.  At Tulip Time, you will find her spieling, street scrubbing, at the information booth and volunteering at the Pella Historical Village.  She is also a graduate of Leadership Red Rock.

Mindi Vanden Bosch
EMPLOYER:  Continuous Improvement Manager, Vermeer
VOLUNTEER:  Mindi serves as Vice President of the PACE Board as well as the PACE Downtown Committee Chair.  In addition to her volunteer service with PACE, Mindi is a board member for the Pella Historical Village, Treasurer for the Vermeer Charitable Foundation and Chair of the Vermeer Ownership Council.

Tiffany Van Zante
EMPLOYER:  Vice President, Geetings, Inc.
VOLUNTEER:  Currently, Tiffany serves on the board of directors for the Eating Disorder Coalition of Iowa, Leadership Council for the National Federation of Independent Business and communications director for the South Central Satellite of the National Association of Women Business Owners.  Over the years, she has served on the board of directors for the Knoxville Area Community Theater, graduated from Leadership Red Rock, volunteered for the Marion County Republican Party, Marion County Cattlemen and the 20th Anniversary of Marion County Habitat for Humanity.

As you can see within Marion County, the top 10 under 40 young professionals work in various sectors throughout the area and impact our communities through their service in many nonprofit groups.
