Electric

MidAmerican Energy, Iowa's largest energy company, is strategically located in the middle of several major markets in teh Midwest.  At the end of 2010, MidAmerican Energy had 7,048 megawatts of owned and contracted generating capacity.  Approximately 52% was fueled by coal; 21% by natural gas; 20% by wind, hydroelectric and biomass; and 7% by nuclear.

Gas

Alliant Energy is an investor-owned public utility holding company providing electric and natural gas service to approximately 1 million electric and 412,000 natural gas customers.  In Marion County, they provide natural gas.  They operat in Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Water

The water plant treats an average of 1.5 million gallons of water per day and provides water to approximately 3,925 residental, commercial, institutional and industrial customers.  For more information, contact 641.628.1601.

Sewer

The Sents Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant was constructed in 1981 along with collection system improvements at a cost of $14 million.  The wastewater treatment plant processes an average daily flow of 1.6 million gallons per day.  For more information, contact 641.628.1601.

With awareness to ensure public health protection through proper collection system design and maintenance and that environmental stewardship is practiced through appropriate, efficient treatment of the wastewater that is collected. Air Service

The airport is comprised of 120 acres and is located at the southern edge of Knoxville.  The 4,000 ft. (by 75 ft.) single runway is constructed of concreat with parallel taxiway.  The airport also includes 34 T hanger facilities.  Airport services include flight lessons, rental aircraft and a full-time mechanic.  For more information contact 641.842.4423.


Classic Aviation is the fixed based operator of the Pella Municipal Airport.  The airport services include flight instruction, aircraft rental, maintenance and pilot service.  The airport runway measures 5,400 ft. (by 75 ft.).  For more information call 641.628.9393.

The Marion County Engineer's department is responsible for construction and maintenance of the secondary road system in Marion County.  The Marion County road system has 865 miles of total roadways.  This includes 135.6 miles of paved roads, 655.6 miles of gravel roads, 41.8 miles of dirt roads and 31.9 miles of seal coated roads.  There are also 237 bridges within Marion County and 88 large culverts.  For more information, contact 641.828.2225.
