The Marion County Development Commission applied and was selected by the International Economic Development Council to receive technical assistance for planning economic resilience and capacity at no cost to the local community.  A team from the International Economic Development Council visited Marion County on November 7-10.  During their visit, the team met with local leaders in public meetings, small group meetings, sector focus groups, and one-on-one meetings.  In addition, the team completed driving tours around the county throughout their visit.  The team focused on three key areas for Marion County’s future:  (1) growing workforce-talent, (2) developing a positive business climate for growth & business diversification, and (3) building communities through placemaking & tourism as a place to live, do business and visit.

You are invited to attend a presentation of their initial observations and recommendations on December 20 at 9:30 AM CST via TEAMS.  The link to join the meeting is included below my signature information in red.  This is an on-line only meeting.  These recommendations will be used by MCDC to then develop a formal long term economic development strategic plan for Marion County.
