Laborshed studies provide a tool for understanding the workforce characteristics of a local labor market. A Laborshed is an area or region from which an employment center draws its commuting workers. It shows the distribution of workers regardless of political boundaries. The analysis includes current/desired occupations, wages, hours worked, job search resources and distance willing to commute to work.
Within the Red Rock Area in Marion County, two labor market studies are compiled. Pella and Knoxville each do their own Laborshed. In addition, we have data from our 9 county regional area. Click on links below to view study data.
